Hmmm, interesting:

Stan Love is the father of NBA player Kevin Love, and the younger brother of Beach Boys founding member Mike Love. He is the cousin of Beach Boys Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, and Dennis Wilson.[5] In the mid-1970s and 1980s, Love was employed as a full-time bodyguard and assistant to Brian Wilson, working to re-acclimate the troubled musician to daily life and keep him drug-free. In 1982, Love was fined $750 and placed on six months' probation for a home invasion and assault on Dennis Wilson with fellow bodyguard Rocky Pamplin.[6] In 1990, Love filed a petition to be appointed as Brian Wilson's conservator,[7] resulting in the court-ordered severing of personal and financial ties between Wilson and therapist Eugene Landy in 1991.[8]

Somehow Brian outlived his brothers. As has "Uncle Mike"

They've taken two huge steps back in the last two games.

Outside of last game against the Cavaliers, we've looked like ass against all the good teams who will be in the playoffs. Probably a sign of bad things to come.

The brothers ran wild.   Brian was "confined" a lot, usually by his choice.

I think he did lots and lots of drugs though. Think Dennis fell off a boat while drunk and drowned. Not sure about Carl.

I remember Dennis falling off a boat.    I think Brian had lots of "issues" beyond drugs.

I saw the Beach Boys in concert in 1970 or 1971...in college.  George Carlin was the opening act.

That same winter I saw Mountain...Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi.  Felix has been dead for more than 30 years.

I don't really follow the NBA very closely, so can someone explain to me how the 76ers are 0-17??  How is that even possible???

Their roster is full of d-league level players except for a few players with some upside like Michael Carter-Williams or Nerlens Noel, and their last first-round pick, Joel Embiid, is currently injured and projected to miss the entire season. Basically it is another tanking season for the 76ers.

the interesting thing will be seeing if they can flip a switch from tanking to competitive like they seem to think the can- as it stands their roster sucks- even with whoever the number 1 over all is added (which they probably won't get)- and I can't imagine any free agent seriously looking at them absent a huge overpay. Throw in a team culture accustomed to losing and an increasingly hostile/apathetic fan base and their temporary tank could end up much longer than they think

Yeah. Honestly I don't understand what the sixers are thinking. I feel like the losing mentality is affecting the player development, too. MCW has gotten worse as a PG than last season, Noel seems powerless, etc. And I heard that the next draft is very center-heavy, and I am wondering who will the Sixers pick. Clearly they are missing a decent swing man.

They aren't that far off from what the wizards were a couple years ago. Another year of this would be extreme and perhaps have long lasting effects on players like MCW. They have a lot of tradeable assets. They can probably make trades similar to how the wiz got Nene, Okafor, and Ariza which put them on the path towards respectability

Hell, even Wall wasn't permanently scarred by the dipcraps Young, McGee, and Blatche. Do the Sixers have any crapheads?

The worst recent year the Wizards had was 2008 with 19 wins - the 76ers are already coming of a 19 win season and look like they'll finish worse than that this year. The wizards also blundered into a top pick - there is no guarantee the 76ers will. I also wonder what assets the 76ers have- is MCW worth that much in a trade?

(Image removed from quote.)

probably not a good thing if it holds heading into the playoffs

A) small sample
B) why use point totals and not percentage or rate to mitigate A)
C) even if you put stock in this, the wiz are about even
against good teams. So they'd be competitive not a disaster
D) this also says it will only be a problem if we get to the finals

The trades night not get you a star, but you can get legit veterans. They have cap space, which I think is valuable by itself. They can absorb a good player with a too high contract. I don't think young and mcgee were hot commodities when the wiz got nene

You don't need the top pick. Just picks near the top. They'll have their own this year plus miami's. The wiz also wasted the vesely pick. I think the Sixers are in a better spot than the wiz were.

MCW went 11th and would go much higher in a redo. The sixers might have better people pulling the strings

Looks like we're going to have to beat the Lakers and the refs if this start is any indication.

Kobe lights up 15 in the first quarter  ...   and didn't play almost 2 minutes.
