What was great to see was seeing those philly fans trying to see if Ryans homer was going to go foul, ohh the agony!! It was bittersweet.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 60th win, each season:

2005 - 12th August (115th match of season)
2011- 19th August (123rd match)*
2007 - 2nd September (137th match)
2006 - 4th September (137th match)
2010 - 6th September (138th match)
[2008 - finished 59-102]
[2009 - finished 59-103]

*okay I realise the winning run was scored at 00.25 the morning of the 20th, but we're talking matchdays-of-record here.

Charlie's call was awesome.  He slipped in a 'Good Night' as well.

Yeah, it was awesome as always.  MLB Network's Quick Pitch just had the game recap and they used Charlie's calls instead of Bob's for the highlights.  You'll be able to catch it again as the show repeats all night and into the morning (just tune in at around :28 after the hour).

Charlie's call was awesome.  He slipped in a 'Good Night' as well.

They just now re-played it on the post-match show - just about the most intense HR call I've heard from him.

---

'Early storm of hits not enough in DC' goes the lead story on the Phillies site; their match story: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2011_08_19_phimlb_wasmlb_1&mode=recap&c_id=phi

---

Unfortunately I wasn't there to see it - I did go tonight but as the rain delay dragged on (I have to admit I have little tolerance for endless standing round through long delays, even at Fridays) I had to remain observant of the start of Metro track work that evening (including single-tracking on the Blue line across Pentagon station and Yellow line service cut back to every 20min); went home about 20.00 and caught the re-started match on the radio.

Even by the standards of Phillies visits here this was a huge Phillies turn-out - easily at least 60% of the crowd as of first pitch. Rain probably did a few of them good - it might have been the ifrst time some of them have showered in three or four weeks.

Pilsner Urquell cans back on offer on the Scoreboard Walk...downrright tasty, just like the finish of the match itself.

I'd ditch the Mystics tonight (Saturday of course) in favour of the Nats if it weren't for this $#%!!&@@!! Metro track work...but with another near-sell-out crowd due I really don't feel like taking upwards of 2hr getting home. I'll be there Sunday though.

Wow, we're tied for 4th in all of MLB for number of wins at home (behind the Yankees, Phillies and Brewers). Nice...

Not surprising since, as far as baseball is concerned, that network is little more than a Red Sox house organ.

Fox Radio just ran tonight's scores and ours went third (behind Cardinals-Cubs - Cubs just fired their GM - and Brewers-Mets so they could mention the essential fact that the Mets have lost the opening matches of 10 series this season).
