it is a sucky ass jobb, but nobody else was hiring and it is better than nothing. it'll hold me over until my army stuff is complete and the NG sends me for my job training.

nah, it is easier for me to get into the guard than it is straight to full time duty. once i am back in the military in any capacity, i can transfer to another branch with less headache.

and no, national guard isnt full time. but i can get to full time through the guard. active duty(fulltime) army or navy wont take me back straight-up because i was a dumbass and got a crappy-but-not-criminaldischarge my first time around. my way back in is longer.

I think if I had to join a branch of the military, I'd want to join the Coast Guard. I don't know why.

Cause there's no Coast Guard deployment to Iraq.

Best of luck to you. What MOS are you going in  as? What Guard unit? After active I was with the DC NG for a while, a hospital unit. Not even sure if it's still extant. Anyway, hope it all works out for you.

Good luck MrMadison. Thank you for your service.

That said if I were you I'd join the Swiss Army. The seem to have the nicest knives, watches, backpacks, and clothes. ;) Not sure about the food though.

I can see MrMadison teaching all the Army dudes about veggie meat. "Hey Cookie, why does this chicken stew taste so good?" "It's the quorn!"

Best of luck, pal.

Not sure about the food though.
For what it's worth, the fringe of this dress is 1,000 Lindor Swiss chocolate truffles:

That would be a perk. Why the hell should I go over there?

If I join the military I actually want to "defend the homeland."

My eighth grade English teacher was a Major in the M.P.'s, in the Army Reserves, and she got called up a month before the Iraq invasion. Turns out she spent the whole invasion (and indeed her entire tour) stationed in Hawaii.

There's about 4255 soldiers who probably would consider her very lucky indeed.

One way to satisfy your seafaring/nautical jones.  CG does great work - some of those rescues they pull off during high seas and storms are incredible.  They're very well trained, and do a difficult and sometimes perilous job, but it would be great to be around water all the time.

When I was younger I was seriously tempted to enlist as a Marine Science Technician (MST).
