In case you guys haven't been keeping up, here's the latest on the coming food options (yes, there finally are some):

* In March-April-ish, Potbelly Sandwich Works and Kruba Thai and Sushi should open in the ground floor of the all-but-completed Foundry Lofts building at 3rd and Tingey:

* In summer, as part of the new Canal Park at 2nd Street between I and M, the Canal Park Tavern should open in the pavilion space at M Street:

* Starting in late fall, the Boilermaker Shops at 4th and Tingey should begin opening. Not all establishments will open at once, but leases are signed with Willie's Brew and Que (a sportsbar), an unnamed brewery from the Churchkey/Birch and Barley team, Austin Grill Express, Huey's 24-7 Diner, brb ("be right burger"), and Buzz Bakery.

And, in late 2013 or early 2014, a Harris Teeter across 4th from the Boilermaker Shops will open, as part of a new apartment building:

There were rumors a few months ago that Gordon Biersch was about to sign a lease for the space at 100 M, but nothing's been announced.

As for Florida Rock, the developers found financial backing and are looking to start their first building, a residential one across from the ballpark's staircase, in spring 2013.

No movement yet on the blocks directly north of the ballpark, but I wouldn't be surprised to see at least Akridge make some sort of announcement this year (west side of the street).

(And the residential building directly across South Capitol from the ballpark is coming out of the ground, but since that's in Southwest I am ignoring it. )

There's also a new Espresso/light sandwiches place at 2nd and L, on the block north of Five Guys.
