Holy crap.  Pena with a 2-out opposite field hit.  The world may come to an end tomorrow.

It seems like there's something off with Zimmerman's swing.  It's too much of an uppercut.  He's hit so many towering fly balls.  Last season, even though he was struggling early, he was at least hitting a lot of scorching line drives.

Kearns has the uppercut problem but even worse. When he started hitting late last year, he had a level, smooth swing. Now it's teeing off on a par-5.

Nice for Willy Mo to final get a hit.

Way to go, Willie Mo.

Estrada could double as a batting practice backstop. That is one wide-bodied dude. And he strokes one!

That's true.  I've seen some of the same frustratingly awkward swings from him.  Just fire Lenny already.

WTG Estrada!

He's already done more than Lo Duca has done all year in just that 1 AB.

while I want firing Lenny as well, it won't help Kearns' swing.  he's always had that problem.

It's really not his swing. With all of these guys, the problem is not staying back and watching the ball hit the bat. It's not an easy fix, but we definitely need to hire someone that'll drill the basics into their heads. Watching tape CAN help, Lenny!

Kearns needs to be dropped in the batting order until Dukes gets back.

bat him 8th.

then when Dukes comes back, put Kearns on the bench, and let's see what Dukes can ACTUALLY do.

and I'm not just knee-jerking about hitting Kearns 8th.

Lopez
Guzman
Zimmerman
Johnson
Milledge
Pena
Estrada
Kearns

Guzman
Belliard
Zimmerman
Johnson
Milledge
Pena
Estrada
Kearns

make it happen.

This is vintage Hill.  Even though he's definitely not on the mound enough to justify tremendous praise, it's criminal that nobody really knows how good he can be merely because of injuries and the fact that he plays for the Nationals.  People at least know who Ben Sheets and Rich Harden are.

Just focus on the hitter, Shawn! Hanley can't do anything else right now.

Harden's not a bad comparison skill-wise. Really, though.
