Gameday Thread: Nationals @ Marlins, Game 3 (L)
« Topic Start: August 23, 2006, 06:17:25 PM »
Tony Armas, RHP (8-8, 4.73)..... @ ..... Scott Olsen, LHP (9-7, 4.49)

Armas is looking to win his second straight start. In his last outing, Armas pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on six hits against the Phillies. All three runs came in the sixth. Pat Burrell had an RBI single, while Mike Lieberthal had a two-run double. Manager Frank Robinson thought Armas struggled throughout the game. Armas had problems throwing first-pitch strikes.

Olsen suffered his worst outing of the season in his last start against the Braves, allowing five runs on four hits over a season-low 1 2/3 innings. The defeat gave Olsen his third in a row. The rookie southpaw once again struggled with his control and walked four batters. Olsen is 0-1 this season against the Nationals in two appearances.

OMG, look at our lineup tonight. This isn't a B lineup it is a D lineup:
Soriano LF
Lopez SS
Kearns RF
Escobar CF
Ward 1B
Mateo 3B
Harper C
Castro 2B
Armas P

Why is it necessary to have half of our lineup take the same day off?   And don't we have an OFF DAY tomorrow?  The only positive is Escobar is finally back.

Sportsfan I think they're just trying to switch things up a bit.  Can't be any worse, really.

That is true that it can't get any worse.  But our defense has been struggling mightily and this lineup just screams Bad Defense.  And it doesn't help at all that Tony is on the mound, he has been killed all year by the Fins.

Looks like the delay is over.  Fonzie pops out, Lopez on base.  Seems like Lopez really ought to be our leadoff guy.  He is a good singles/doubles hitter, fairly patient, and gets on base a lot.

 I assume that's sarcasm.  Kearns sucks the big one one one one.

Batting .223 for the Nats with 27 hits in 121 ABs.  14 runs, 14 RBIs, and a .349 OBP with ONE (1) homer.

Seriously, he's like a carbon copy of Guillen

Armas' two pitches:
Fastball 90-91
Slider 84-86

That is embarrassing
