I ride to work some days, its 9.7 miles each way (19.4 total). Set a new personal best today, rode to work in 36 minutes door to door. That's 16.7 mph and over 400 cals burned.

Bad ass.  What kind of bike do you ride?

I'm only rolling 1 bike right now, Kona Paddy Wagon. Fixed gear is a beotch for climbing hills, but it's fairly flat here.

What did that set you back and does it have a flip-flop hub?  It's a really sweet looking bike.

Ascended the highest peak in Charleston SC today - the Arthur Ravenel Bridge over the Cooper River, 186 feet above the water.  Frankly it's an easy ride but the scenery is breathtaking.

Oh, and a  :w: sighting at the top as well.

All this bike talk made me go for a ride...the same 25 mile ride now takes twice as long as it used to, but I survived my second ride in 2 1/2 or 3 years.  Effing pollen is off the hook right now.

Having worked up such a powerful thirst on such a steep ascent, I was unable to make the full return trip without stopping along Shem Creek for a couple of refreshing beverages and an oyster po'boy.

One must plan trips meticulously in order to have resources available when needed.

Not to mention I was thinking this might be the place to watch opening day tomorrow.  Plenty of TV's along the outdoor bar.

Yea it has a flip-flop hub and MSRP is ~$800 but I got it for $325 off gearscan.com this winter. I like it but I miss my Jamis, might scoop up an 80's touring frame bike to circut ride this summer. I'm going to start riding with a group on a 21 lap around the city, they run M-F all summer long. Should be fun.

Definitely.  I'm getting up tomorrow and doing 15 miles in the morning before I hit the gym.  Nothing quite like doing a nice long ride to start the day.

Hitting the gym for a quick circuit and then heading down to Spokes to get the ol' bike tuned up.  What a glorious day.

Finally brokedown and bought the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit.  If I ever have to get involved in some street justice this thing is going to come in handy.  It and my old OnGuard Bulldog for comparison:

My bro-in-law suggested a way to find thorns poking through a tire tread - rub a cotton ball around the inside.

That would catch them.  I usually just take the tire off complete and make sure there's nothing in either.  Some times debris gets stuck in spots you wouldn't find without really exploring.

It's really, really heavy - like around 6lbs.  It'd be great as a weapon, but it's hard as hell to get out of this:
