Royal depends on the contract. If it's cheap and short, good deal, but if they are paying him a lot or long term, not so much. Royal can return kicks too right? Or at least punts? Makes Banks expendable I'd think.

“@ClaytonESPN: The Redskins are the early FA winners getting Josh Morgan, Pierre Garcon and most likely Eddie Royal”
I'd like to see us get an o-lineman and safety too. Those are weaknesses.

Then the problem isn't Shanahan's system. Frankly, if the only system Griffin can thrive in is the spread, he's just another Colt Brennan.

Less molesty than Brennan.

Damn if they sign Royal that means Terrance Austin is probably gone.

I think royal is the steal here- I've always liked him and he's another local guy

No, he isn't. He isn't that great as a punt returner or kick returner. He's pretty much a slot receiver. Except we have at least three of those already on the roster.

Basically, for Garcon and Royal, the Skins could have had Vincent Jackson.  More stupidity from the front office. The only thing I can hope for now is that Dan Snyder loses hope and just sells the team. [/sf]

How much of our offense should be one puff away from a massive suspension? Not to mention Jackson isn't exactly team first- why bring him into a locker room with a rookie qb?

Why bring in Pierre, I like to drop the ball, Garcon for 42 million dollars? At least VJ has had a 1000 yard season. As the number 1 receiving option.

He's also had holdouts - now that he's been payed, how much does he care?

Garcon was overpayed, but I like the other signings- Morgan came on the cheap, Royal was reasonable. Gives plenty of big play threats for Griffin to chuck it to. Garcon is not a #1, however, and should not be treated as such. Hopefully Hankerson develops (I love Hankerson- two games last year, one his first ever, the second 108 yards in 2.5 quarters).

If I could choose one more FA for them to get, it would be RT Eric Winston, just cut by Houston. According to Profootball focus he was a top-6 RT, and Jamaal Brown was clearly the worst member of the offensive line. That alone would be a huge upgrade. I'd also love Carl Nicks or Ben Grubbs to replace Chris Chester, who was also terrible.

Eddie Royal hasn't signed yet. May still happen, but other teams showed late interest and he backed out.

I usually get hyped about signings like these guys but I'm not this time around. Whenever I do get hyped, the following season shows that they were all dumb signings. I hope this reverse psychology works and that they do awesome.

Chester may have been the best lineman on the team last season. You probably read that on some publication (maybe even paid them for it).  :lmao:

There's no question Jackson is more explosive. He has a better yards/rec ratio but he's also been in the league 3 more years. Garcon was 53 yards shy of your magical 1000 yard season playing with the likes of Kerry Collins, Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky. Also, Jackson has two DUI's and another driving arrest that led to a 3 game suspension so he's a couple of cocktails away from a long suspension.

Royal had 980 in his one year with Shanny

spider is right, chester was very good last season.

jackson is a nice player, but would've cost more and is more of a risky play.

garcon is younger which is key for us.

again i wanted colston, but that was off the table quickly.
