Funny things you've heard at RFK
« Topic Start: July 26, 2005, 10:57:37 PM »
Since baseball was gone from DC for 30+ years, there are a lot of folks that don't know a whole lot about the game.   Here are a couple of things I've overheard at RFK this year:

1.  I heard a woman talking on her cell phone to her friend and she says, "Well, I thought the game had 9 innings, but they show 10 on the scoreboard."   I wanted to tell her that in the NL they play metric baseball, but I kept my mouth shut.

2.  I heard one guy say to his friend when a fielder dropped a pop foul, "That should be fair since it hit his glove."

Share any you've heard.

This wasn't at RFK, but at a local minor league stadium.

The Nashua Pride, (complete with former Brave outfielder Darren Bragg) were playing the Bridgeport Bluefish.

The Bluefish pitcher, who blew the game for the team the previous night was given the chance to keep the Pride lead slim. Well, he didn't do a very good job, and the Pride took a big advantage. After he walked in a run, the lady behind us:

"See, this is why no one be comin to our games! We got them pitchers walkin in the Home Runs"
