If that is the case then that means that Davey is banking on significant contributions from rendon and/or goodwin next year.
it also means Rizzo doesn't want to over-pay or get stuck with older guys on 3 and 4 year deals. It sounds like, if the reporting is believable, that Rizzo doesn't want to go any further than 2 years with LaRoche.
I'd like to keep LaRoche, but I'm hopeful that Moore can replace quite a bit of that pop. And as you note, we'll have the flexibility to bring up Rendon and Goodwin in 2013.
