:bag:   Yep, the world would end if Willingham and Ryan Z. switched. It would throw Dunn off; and it would throw off the pitching strategy to protect Ryan Z.            :bag:

So, we would spin out of orbit and collide with Mars?

The Lerners love Manny, we took two of three from the Yankees, and we had record crowds for the Red Sox series. Everything is fine in Natstown my friends. The Lerners couldn't be more thrilled. Manny is not going anywhere.

Let's say we lose 105 games this year. Is it possible for Acta to come back next year because it looks like he won't be fired this season?

Never say never in Natstown. I think there is a very real possibility that he comes back next year.

If only. We're on pace for 115.

The Lerners don't own the Nats; the Marlins own the Nats.

there has never been domination like this EVER. 3-23 record against them the last two years. You could field a random college team that would win more than 3 games in 26 against the Marlins. seriously

Didn't the Phillies beat the Braves IN ATLANTA something like 15 straight, until this week?

Didn't Baltimore beating the stuffing out of the Royals push Bill James into sabermetrics?

I posted this on Nats Journal:

Quote

ok, I am willing to roll with the popular(at least here) Pro-Manny opinion that Manny has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do in ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM with the Team's play, or the Team's record, and that it is all, 100% the responsibility of the players, and that the Manager has absolutely no appreciable effect on anything that goes on with a Major League Baseball Team. (so what exactly is a manager responsible for anyway? bah, another question for another time)

I'm willing to suspend my better judgement, and buy into this theory for a moment.

but then I need to ask you Pro-Manny folks out there a few simple questions:

What Manager , or Head Coach, in ANY MAJOR TEAM SPORT would keep his job in any normally-run Organization with a .385 winning percentage over 2.5 seasons?

Regardless of the effect the Manager does or does not have on the team he has been hired to "guide" , what Manager/HC would keep his job after guiding his team to a .294 winning percentage through the first half of a season, immediately following a season in which he guided the team to a .366 winning percentage?

There have been Managers and Head Coaches within the past year who have lost their jobs, with BETTER records, and BETTER winning percentages than Manny does. So if the Manager has absolutely nothing to do with the success or failure of the team, then why is Manny so special that firing him is an unpardonable sin?

Just saw this on MrMadison's twitter!
Hope they're true this time. We do not need a second half of "Well, I thought they played well ... just not as well as the other team" and laughing and giggling and being cheerily craptastic.
