Mike Green isn't the reason this team isn't winning, it's the lack of coaching and system in place. Bruce needs to be fired if this team wants a chance at succeeding.

They won 7 straight with Green. Since he got hurt? 3-6-1. It's not just his year either (I don't have stats to back it up though). It's truly inexplicable.

Mike Green, IMO, has nothing to do with why we are losing. We are playing Western teams which we NEVER do well against, even with him in the lineup. The only time we miss him is on the PP, but even then it's not all that effective.

It's early in the season. This team will at the top or near the top of the standings when the playoffs roll around. It's the playoffs that I'm worried about.

I'm really not sold on the Capitals to be honest. I think the Capitals have a good shot at not winning the division for once and end up being a 5 or 6 seed. Obviously the playoffs is the problem for the team and IMO that all boils down to coaching. Not to say we might not have some players who aren't that good (Schultz), but it seems like Bruce is constantly outcoached.

I think that you win this argument by virtue of having the first triple negative sentence in WNFF history!

This team is pretty much in the toilet right now. Pretty pathetic.

I just wonder what would happen this season if we hit a losing streak like last season? I'm not 100% certain that BB would survive.

Haha I'll take it.

Pathetic game tonight, but it doesn't really surprise me, Bruce has to be on a short leash now and I can't say that I don't love it.

So how much longer does Bruce get? Midway point? Less than that? Longer?

Ive seen a lot of negative Press on Ovie not being the player he once was.  Why is that!

Some say its because the teams have figured out his game and he hasn't adjusted.

Could it also be that since the Caps changed to a new more Defensive oriented team?  I mean is it like football where you run a 3-4 or is it 4-3 plan.  Either you fit into that plan or not?  Sorry I wouldnt know one kind of defense from another.

I mean is it a coincidence that since the Caps changed to a new system Ovie hasnt been as good?

I think the problem Cal, is that Ovi is no longer scoring 60 goals a season or close to that, so they consider him bad. The truth is, with the team now, we don't need him to do that. Earlier, in 06-07 we did, we needed him to score that much, but now we can count on everyone else as well.

I definitely think the scheme we are running is what's hurting the team. Most of these guys are all offense and we're expecting them to play D, etc. I mean Mike Green, yeah he's a "defensemen," but realistically he's a forward. Not saying he hasn't gotten better at D (though I still think he's not that great), his biggest plus was his goal scoring, still is.

I will always blame Bruce for not bringing us our first cup, there's no excuse why that 2009 team should not have brought it home. Dominating everyone and in the playoffs he wants to change it to more D. I would have fired his ass right then and there for that.

i dont think bruce gets fired until the caps are below 8th place after new years.  he is still trying to figure some things out. still trying to see if johanson is a 2C.  trying to figure out the best way to use eakin, perreault, ward, brouwer, halpern.  that is almost two whole lines of people right there. he might be better off just leaving the lines together in the short term, but there are some long term benefits to experimenting.  i think they are giving hamrlik the benefit of the doubt for now and letting him prove himself totally inept before making a change.

i guess if the caps stop playing hard, he might get the boot. its been two bad games. the nashville one wasnt bad for 55 minutes.  there have been some freak things that have hurt the caps lately. ward had an uncharacteristic giveaway that led to WPG's second goal. schultz boned a pass to give TOR their first goal.  sure there are lots more goals that need explaining, but things like those two just get the snowball rolling

I've become a casual hockey fan over the last several years (since the "strike").    Used to be a partial STH.   Watching the movement of this team over the last couple of weeks, I don't see how BB can last the season.

I think he can survive if things start to turn around. Will they? I'm not so sure. It looks to me like he may be losing the team. I could be completely wrong though and this team might go on a 10 game winning streak. I do think BB will be gone if they get to the playoffs and flame out in the first round. I just can't see him surviving another playoff failure.

I believe Leonsis is a patient man but he can't be happy with "things".    Basketball is out and hockey is becoming shakey.   BB has reverted back to an AHL coach.   I think he's reached the wall and met his highest potential as an NHL coach.    Of course, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last night  ...

Is the beer cold for the one o'clock kickoff?    I have the 'skins on 5 but the Ravens/Bengals game is on 13.   Channel 13 isn't part of my FIOS package in NoVa.    Guess I'll watch Liverpool/Chelsea and then NASCAR.   :)

Yes, the beer is definitely cold.

I'll be watching the Ravens game. Should be a good one. Cincy is no pushover this year. I give the Ravens the edge because they are playing in BMore.
