What if we took Nolasco for Miami in a Stanton deal? He will be making $11 million next season, and will be a free agent afterwards.

I mean with what they received for those guys, giving up Espinosa, one of our decent pitchers, and something random would have to at least put us on the phone for Stanton.

Espi/Lombo, Moore, one of the good prospects, and a lower level pitcher for Stanton and Nolasco's contract. They'd have a lot of middle infielders, but they could flip Escobar somewhere to make room.

I don't think we'd have to give that many good players, considering what they traded for YUNEL ESCOBAR.

One thing to consider is that Toronto absorbed A LOT of money in this deal. That probably led to the lower number and quality of prospects. If we deal for Stanton and Nolasco, we'd only be taking on the one year left for Nolasco, not three long term deals, thus we may still have to give up a decent package.

How do you see what Harper said? I saw that he retweeted that from Stanton. I don't know, or have, twitter.

Plus Anthony Gose, a catcher, and their #5, #6, and #10 prospects. I think Vega's proposal for Nolasco and Giancarlo is pretty decent, actually.

Another issue is that after this deal, every team in the league will be calling Miami about Stanton. We'd be competing against everyone else to get him, which would also up the price.

I'd be willing to give him the same exact stuff I would for JUpton. Use that as a starter.

I don't care so much about Stanton, but I'd like to know why we couldn't have gotten in on Johnson or Burehle.

Yeah put me in the cares about Stanton camp.

Eury Perez might appeal to the Marlins. They'll need a CF assuming they get Marsinick instead of Gose. Toss him in a deal too. Hell, get Greg Dobbs too while they're at it.

There is no salary cap, but is there a salary floor?  Can the Marlins have a roster full of minimum salary guys?  Is that even allowed?

Marlins have a payroll of around 16million, not including arbitration guys.

He's worth more than a #1 overall prospect (Profar/Myers... Bundy, maybe), so I don't think Rizzo would make that move. We'd have to include our top two prospects and a lot more, value-wise.
