Nice pitch there. Why can't he do that consistently?!

because he is SCARED.

and it pisses me off. I can't stand pitchers who are afraid to throw strikes.  especially if their fastball can hit 98.

Man, if I could throw that hard, I'd have no fears.

Bull****. Hanrahan comes into a game we still theoretically have a chance in and he essentially ends any hopes of coming back.

The bloop hits are one thing, the walks that make it all possible are what is so intolerable.

yawn. I could give a freak less how many strikeouts he gets. Since people think so highly of Joel why don't we trade him while his value is perceived as high.

Hanrahan was just being Hanrahan that inning. If he could only stop walking people....

That could have been much worse.  Hopefully the bats can get something going.

Batters would be afraid to 'show you up' because you could plunk them at 98 mph

They're as bad as we are. If this was a better team we'd be down by 6 runs right now.

Since people think so highly of Joel why don't we trade him while his value is perceived as high.

Not that it matters but Capps, their closer, has pitched in 3 straight games so he may not be available tonight. Like I said though, it won't matter who they throw out there with this offense.

Man, if I could throw that hard, I'd have no fears.

EXACTLY!

he can....not should....but CAN...just straight up throw the ball past MOST hitters. and for the ones he can't he's got a decent breaking ball to fall back on.

but he acts like throwing a freaking strike on a corner is a criminal offense.

and the worst part is, you can look at his face and see how scared he is.

he has Dominant Closer Stuff, but he's got a scared little kid mentality.

Randy St Claire doesn't suck.
5th inning   Ryan Doumit solo shot to left center off Lannan.

Nationals 1
Pirates 3

We were lucky they didn't score more.

I want to see us pick up one run this inning, then have Dukes hit a double and Milledge hit a go-ahead homer in the 9th so I can see exactly what happened last night.

Why is everyone so convinced that Hanrahan's problem is fear?

I think is problem is that he can't actually control where he's throwing the freakin ball.

Check out the pirate mascot behind the plate. Why do we have to have such a sorry ass mascot?
