At this point who really cares.  Marquis as a big time, free agent is a total bust.  Anyone think we might eat his salary and not bother with him next season?

When you get $15m, it's on you.   If you can't handle that, go park freaking cars.

It's on you that the bench shifted the defense for the pull, the "HOF" catcher called for pitches away that worked directly against the defensive alignment, the BB you surrendered was on 4 balls (correctly called) that hit the catcher's glove exactly where he put it, and that 3 extremely slow DP dribblers up the middle ended up in 0 DPs turned because of the defensive shift?

It's at least as much on Sludge and Riggledonk.

You mean the Marquis that has pitched well for the last month once he got healthy?

What have you done for me lately?    Jeeez .. we win two in a row and you want to quantify some harmonic convergence.    Jason sucked today.   That's why pitchers get the W and the L.

I can't believe we're losing 6-1 in the second inning.  This team can ruin a night of baseball so easily.
Yep.  I'm done worrying about this game already.  Sucks.

What have you done for me lately?

He induced 3 very easy DP groundballs, hit the glove exactly where it was placed and had the catcher/bench work directly against each other.  To come out of this thinking Marquis was the primary problem is Dibbleesque.

If mediocre is synonymous with "well" then sure.

Pitcher's get the W and L because most fans are too lazy to realize how completely meaningless it is in the modern bullpen/specialization era.

Lol @ potomac cannons for making excuses for marquis - a pitcher who albiet has pitched well as of late - isn't a stranger to getting shelled in first inning.

We need so much help if we ever want to be a good team.

Wouldn't it be nice if our bullpen wouldn't give up any runs the rest of the game.  These guys are working hard and competing for jobs next season... this season.

So the 7.5 K/9, 3.01 FIP and 2.84 xFIP in September was mediocre?  Good to know that.

Cannons .. I ain't disagreein' with ya.   I'm just sayin' Marguis is the pitcher.   That's where the crap falls.   It's the nature of the beast.

And it's why the teams that don't buy into crap like that are the ones that win.

Explain the last month once he got healthy.
Mostly luck... I've been waiting for him to have another disaster start for awhile.  It wasn't as though last month he was perfect though--he had two or three terrible outings when he came back, then two or three decent-to-good ones, now a terrible one again.  Yes, some of those groundballs should have been outs, but that's the nature of the beast when you are a contact pitcher--you allow random variance, defense and luck to come into play.  That's why you want to have guys who strike people out.

Small. Sample. Size.  Seriously he had like two outings in September.

Can't believe Pudge went on that.  Time to bench him for the season.

Nope.  Looks like the shift is gone and the catcher isn't setting up off the plate.

If no one is fired after this game (which LOTS of people should be), someone should, at least, be thrown under the bus.  That first inning was somebody's fault, for a number of reasons.

The defense is doing absolutely no favors for the pitching tonight.

Pudge has been an offensive black hole for 5 years and only looked good calling games this year due to Wil being the other catcher.
