I love Bostonians.  Say what you want about Red Sox fans, but they love their gritty little guys.  The two Sox on the list are Pedroia and Ellsbury.  Awesome.

I hate that there is only one African American star in the Top 20 jersey sellers (two if you count Jeter)

I really fear the loss of African Americans in the game. It's such an untapped market in terms of athletic talent... it'd be a shame if programs like RBI don't end up recruiting more African Americans to give Baseball a look as a potential career over the likes of Football and Basketball.

I think Baseball is the perfect sport... I don't want to see race exclusion bring it down.

Kind of like what happened to the NBA, huh?

MLB far more closely resembles the overall racial / ethnic splits in the US than the NBA does.  I think I saw something recently that the % of white players had fallen below 10%.  Not that I care, I really don't, but I like to bring that up when folks talk about MLB's splits, to try to ferret out what the agenda is.

Pedroia is because his authentic shirt fits short guys.  Ellsbury because the women think he's so cute.

As for diversity - I see Jason Heyward, Ryan Howard, Derek Jeter.  I also see one Native American and 2 Jews.  If there is a group of ballplayers that is under-represented in terms of star level players and percent of MLB rosters, it is foreign-born hispanics.  Great rookies - Stras, Heyward, Posey. but no Feliz, the top closer in the AL last year?  NYY superstars - Jeter, A-Rod (born and raised in US), Tex - but no Cano or Mo?  No Papi?  There are as many Canadians (Morneau) as Dominicans (Pujols).
