I'd love to see a big college amercan football team like Florida adopt vuvuzelas. Beats the heck out of the FSU tomahawk chop.

Maybe the spectators will have them at the British Open

I'm waiting for the remake of Yellow Submarine when they use vuvuzelas in the intro to "all you need is love."

Maybe Adam Dunn could learn how to play the vuvuzela and he and Ryan Zimmerman could form a band. Did Chopin write any duets for the vuvuzela and didgeridoo?

No, just bagpipes and hurdy gurdy

a 1-0 double overtime tends to have that effect. It was every stereotype, flopping, no scoring, announcers talking about beauty

One of the Netherlands players was being criticized for not taking a dive when presented a prime opportunity.  His ill-fated decision to attempt to maneuver for a shot despite physical play was apparently poor strategy.   :?

Dude could never play for Duke.

He would have gotten the call if it were the NBA.  Then the other player would have shouted at the ref.

I think the booby prize 3rd place game has been better than the final in every WC since probably 1982.

Yeah I respect the fact that he tried to go for the goal instead of flopping.

Dude could never play for Duke.

Nice

its amazing how well these guys can maintain balance when a breakaway is at stake. another guy between him and the goal and he goes down.

Screaming Eagles will be offering $15 tickets for Thursday's nationally televised match against Seattle, which is pretty hard to beat:

** Thursday Night Sounders “Back to School” Special in the Aerie **

We want everyone to be able to proselytize for this match with ease, so we have made it incredibly affordable to come on out to this super midweek tussle. “How so?” you ask.

We are extending the “College Night” discount to everyone!

So, whether you are in college now, completed your higher education decades ago, are looking to enroll in the future or have flunked every darn class you have ever taken – you can get your Aerie ticket for just $15 !!!

That’s right – a chance to snag premium tickets for less than half price for this match, while supplies last!

All proceeds from the sales of Aerie tickets go directly to supporting our community outreach efforts and providing the opportunity for disadvantaged children to attend matches through the Kicks for Kids program.

Just drop a note to outreach@screaming-eagles.com to order and pick up your tickets at the membership table in Lot 8 prior to the match.

Ali - JMW4th was thinking about brining his kid.  Is the Screaming Eagles area a bit rowdy for a young'n?

There are plenty of kids there, but most of them are either too young to understand the profanity, or singing along already. A little further back in the 'Aerie' might be better because you will still get the excitement, or on the 'quiet side' might be better. However the Aerie is offering $15 tickets for Thursday's match, so that's a nice touch. It goes to charity, too. The SE section bounces some, but nobody gets hit by beer there or pushed around.

To be clear, I do not think JMW4th will be soaking his kid in salt water.  Enjoy the game.

watching the DC United vs Seattle Sounders match on ESPN3.

i wonder how many live MLS games are shown on ESPN3.

also, any chance of making a "US Soccer" thread?  for MLS, National team and US-focused Soccer stuff?

Only MLS games broadcast on ESPN/ESPN2 on ESPN3.  None of the DK/FSC games get there.

Nope.  Came through DCs youth program just like Bill Hamid.  Born in Honduras but played at Edison in Alexandria.

the need a couple more najars. i figure he'll stay at least one more year here, hopefully two, before moving on to better things.

the news i saw today was beckham is recruiting ronaldinho to come to LA. interesting. 4 years ago, beckham, ronaldinho, and henry might have been the biggest names in the game and they could be in MLS

For all the bad international scouting DCU does they're okay on drafting and have developed both Hamid and Najar in house through their youth program.
