Redding earned the victory in his last game against the Marlins. He allowed
just four baserunners over six innings -- three of them on hits -- but the
Marlins' Josh Willingham touched him for a two-run home run. Overall,
Redding is off to a nice start as one of the Nationals' most reliable pitchers.

Santana was terrific in his last outing at Philadelphia, giving up four hits
and three earned runs in seven-plus innings. He walked none and struck
out 10, the 40th time in his career he has posted double-digit strikeouts.
Santana threw 105 pitches, 70 for strikes and had excellent command of
all of his pitches.

I'm surprised Johnson is starting seeing as he can't hit lefties.

Why in the world is Pena starting?  Willie is hot, and we need to ride a hot bat in there.

Even Redding and Santana's WHIPs aren't THAT different:

Redding's WHIP: 1.18
Santana's WHIP: 0.87

Redding getting to 4-1 after this game would be pretty incredible.

Santana is going to make Pena look like a fool with his change-up.

The one positive is that Santana hasn't been keeping his change down recently. Pena seems to be OK as long as the pitches are above his shins.

Not this year. He's hitting .150 against LHPs and .256 against RHPs.

He'll get it together. His career numbers show he's one of the better lefty vs. lefty hitters. Plus, we really don't have anything better off the bench.

He's also 7th in the NL in hits, I think. He's doing great.

He better at least swing the bat.  He was pissing me off last night just standing there and taking pitches right down the plate for strike 3.

It is pretty cool that Lastings is getting a shot at being the #5 hitter this early.

Well Boone's been hitting LHPs pretty well this year, but I'd rather have Johnson's patience in our lineup anyday

If old man Smoltz can strike us out 10 times Santana should be good for 12+.

We are so due to hit some jacks in our own park. It seems like our opponents have hit a bunch more in the first 7 home games.  It'd be nice if we could take advantage of this 11-game home stand with 7-8 wins.

Fantastic. If Flores isn't starting everyday, Nieves is the second best option.
