Strange stuff behind the spoiler.  If you are watching the replay of the TdF, then you may want to see this for yourself.  Also, a result is posted in the body of the article, but not the link title.

I've been watching the recaps each night and have been waiting for something like this to happen.  Was it 1999 when some dipcrap needledick spectator got bodyslammed by one of the smallest riders on the tour that year?

Skipped the ride to Bethesda and went to Falls Church instead. Other than the white people and the feeling of disappointment and yearning for Ronald Reagan not a bad place. The ride back was pretty great (average 18.5mph and burned 2,200 calories for 90 minutes of riding):

I would love to see all 3 spins worth of you flying past me at 18mph!

Some dude asked me at a stop light break how I do it (I blew past him on the way home at 30mph). Dude was literally blown away my heart didn't explode keeping the breakneck pace I was at.  When I drop another 50lbs things are going to get insane.

Damn, if you didn't watch today's Tour de France stage, you've got some interesting viewing tonight.

Nails thrown on the road around the top of the final Category 1 climb of the day (an extremely narrow road that prevented team cars from getting past the peloton). Cadel Evans alone had three flat tires. French radio reported that at least 28 nails were found in the road after the peloton had passed through.

Wiggins cracks me up.  The dude dresses like Paul Weller and cruises around on a tricked-out Lambretta when he's not in lycra.

Working from home this week, so I did the Rock Creek-CCT-Bethesda fandango for kicks yesterday afternoon...the cool air in that old railroad tunnel up by the Delcarlia Reservoir is sublimely lovely on a steamy hot afternoon after that long grind up from the river (easy grade, but steadily enough uphill to get a bit oppressive when it's 95+ degrees out).  Will probably do the same this afternoon once I've pounded a few gallons of H2O.

Round tripper to Bethesda. Should be fun.

Dude, the W&OD Trail from Falls Church to the Danger Zone® is my new jam dude.  I did it at an average speed of 18.5mph last weekend and am shooting for 22mph this weekend (assuming the heat doesn't melt me).  Peep this, I finally broke down and bought a "large and in charge" white jersey.  Be on the lookout for the white lightening.

Is that the downhill run from Arlington to the Potomac River area near Crystal City? What's your MPH doing the climb?

If anyone is interested in a 2012 56cm Surly Cross Check frame ($350 OBO) shoot me a PM.  I've finally come to terms with the fact I bought the wrong size frame.

Tempting, but I'm pretty sure a 56 cm frame would have me singing soprano in the Vienna boys choir in no time.  It's basically a straight top tube (i.e. parallel to the ground), right?

Correct.  I think I'm going to just try a stem extension instead for right now since the black version is sold out and the blue version is on back order.

That's a good idea.  Much cheaper than getting a new frame (and with only a 2 cm diff in seat tube length, probably just as likely to work, er, werk).  Is it a threadless headset?

I'm fairly certain it's threadless.  When I compared geometries of the 56 and 58 frame the 58 is about 4" longer on the top tube but if I could just get another 2" or so from a new stem I should be perfect for right now.

4" or 4 cm?  The geometry must be radically different as you go to the bigger frame for 4 inches of additional length.

Seriously? That big a difference?

It's a 10cm (~4") difference between the two on the top tube.  Check it out here:
