I'm just going to call him Giant Stanton from now on.

I think I'll call him Cruz-Michael because it reminds me of George Michael.

Giancarlo Cruz sounds like the bad guy in a Sergio Leone movie

I could see him just going by "Harper" from here on out.

Cards extend Yadier Molina - 5/$75M.   Good deal for a 29 year old top catcher.

A story is starting to emerge about the Orioles that may have them involved in something shady in Korea.

http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/international-affairs/2012/2613037.html

The Korean pitcher they recently signed was apparently not very highly thought of by other teams.  The scout who recommended him has a history of signing players from that part of the world.  He apparently worked with Duquette before with the Red Sox when the Red Sox signed several guys to 6 and 7 figure contracts that ended up as busts.

Looks pretty shady.

What it looks like is they got snookered by the scout, who was getting a kickback from the family for pumping up the bonus.  The implication in the article is that he has a track record of convincing teams to ante up for guys who never make it.

True, but this particular scout has worked with Duquette before.  This may go beyond the scout.

Yes, but not all nine pitches were swings and misses.

Thanks.  Amazing nobody tried bunting off him like they did off H-Rod.

Darvish is wowing the Rangers, I heard an interview with Napoli today who was absolutely gushing over him.  His debut today resulted in 2IP, 2H, and 3Ks.  He has 9 pitches, his catchers are going to have to an interesting time figuring out what to call and getting all the signs correct.

My roto league (AL only, dynasty) will have Darvish and James Shields available for drafting, with King Felix available is I throw him back (I can't keep him at $41; i only picked him up for the stretch drive).  I'm guessing Darvish goes for > $28, maybe as high as $35.  That would be second to Verlander.  Scarcity is a b!tch.

(I'll be chilling with Wilson at $9 and Beckett at $18)

Had one double smoked off the wall off him, and when asked about it after the game he said the batter had the wind at his back, thin air of zona, and no, the batter didn't "get him" or some such translation.  In short, he's highly competitive, hates giving up anything.  Strasburgesque.
