What do you guys think of this?  Do we have Powerboater/Sportsfan on suicide watch?

Miami is actually pretty similar to Mason in the way that the administration doesn't do enough to support their sports teams.

I'm not sure how much support Larranaga was getting after he took Mason to the Final Four, but in the one article I read, it sounded like this came down to money.

As for Miami, I think it's a dream hire. Larranaga has won on the biggest stage without an enormous budget. Larranaga gets to try to replicate the success he's had in one of the toughest conferences.

As a VA resident, this kinda stinks. Mason was fun to follow. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with Miami, though.

My current feelings are running along the lines of Philly fans @ Werth.  He took the money and ran, good for him, but how is his goofball persona going to play down in party central Miami?  And he's not a young guy anymore, he had a good bunch of kids returning to Mason, but now he's starting over.  Mason will win another NCAA tournament game before Miami.

Whenever the Patriot Center is torn down and replaced the new court should be named after Larranaga.

Even if it isn't torn down, he should be honored when he leaves the game.   I worry about him in Miami though.   I know his a tough experienced guy (life and basketball) but Miami is a different animal.   He's lucky it's U Basketball so he'll be working off the radar for awhile.   I hope he does very well.   He's a good guy.

Not sure what you're inferring. Miami's athletic department looks more over their heads than ever.

No just reading it with hindsight is funny. All about money,  not enough to support the team, etc.

At the time, Miami was being reported as a clean program that put academics first.

Feel bad for Larranaga, though. Hope none of this blows back on the basketball program.

The basketball program is absolutely being investigated and certain to be sanctioned.

Interesting that the most corrupt school in the country is run by an ex-Clinton administration official.

He also had a fondness for strong economies. I would take him back in a minute.
