Miami is actually pretty similar to Mason in the way that the administration doesn't do enough to support their sports teams.
I'm not sure how much support Larranaga was getting after he took Mason to the Final Four, but in the one article I read, it sounded like this came down to money.
As for Miami, I think it's a dream hire. Larranaga has won on the biggest stage without an enormous budget. Larranaga gets to try to replicate the success he's had in one of the toughest conferences.
As a VA resident, this kinda stinks. Mason was fun to follow. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with Miami, though.
