so while i'm not complaining at this point, i'm really worried we aren't doing enough to bolster our bullpen.  As of now, it looks like we'll go into the season with:
Duke
Stammen
Clippard
Mattheus
Storen
LH to be signed (Gonzales perhaps)
Henry

That's not a bullpen that carriers us to a WS IMHO, I still think we need an impact arm - maybe a Rafael Soriano?

As long as Storen returns to form from his rookie year we'll be fine.  Bullpens vary from year-to-year anyway.

so um...uh... does Morse have options?

I'm wondering if we sign LaRoche and can't trade Morse, he becomes our 2013 "John Lannan"?

I wouldn't be too worried about what the bullpen looks like on December 4th.

Davey says Suzuki #1 catcher until  Ramos proves he is healthy, and then they have 2 #1s.

If we continue our trend of signing veterans to short term deals to round out our rotation then some options next year include Chris Carpenter, RA Dickey (if he doesn't sign an extension), Halladay (if his option does not vest, which it probably won't), and tim hudson fit the bill.  Other notable free agent pitchers include Josh Johnson and Tim Lincecum.

I'd prefer he stay in the major league bullpen. Don't mess with success.

I agree keep Garcia in the pen where he has shown dominant ability.

I think he'd stay with the MLB club. He could spell Harper, Werth, and LaRoche, so still get around 450 at bats?

Do we have enough space on the 25 man to keep a bench guy making 6.7M?

OF - Werth, Span, Harper, & Bernadina - 4
IF - Zim, Desi, Espi, ALR, & Lombo - 5
SP - Stras, Gio, Zimnn, Haren, & Det - 5
RP - Storen, Clip, Mattheus, Stammen, HRod, Duke, & one other lefty - 7
C - Suzuki & Ramos - 2

That leaves you with 2 spots.  If you keep Tyler Moore you probably want a utility guy who can play multiple positions.  Morse & Moore aren't great in the OF so you really limit yourself IMO.  Do they keep Morse and send Moore back to the minors?  I doubt it.

I am really interested to see what Rizzo does with this situation.

450 is steep, would not be that much
Moore would be optioned
Two guys would be grumpy - like John Lannan Grumpy...though Moore couldn't do anything about it for a while

Thanks for the laydown- I also wonder what will happen to Garcia as well. I hope he stays in the majors.

Why not option Moore? Only hurts leverage to assume a deal HAS to be done, but you're right, that's a pricey bench bat

Rizzo isn't going to make a bad deal just to make a deal.  If he isn't happy with what is out there I am sure they will find a way to keep Morse around.  It's a good problem to have when you have guys like Moore who deserve to be on the 25 man roster but might have to send them down.  Maybe they send Moore down and then trade Morse before the deadline.

you forgot tracy.  That makes 1 spot left and that will be occupied by either morse or moore.  That is IF we bring back laroche.  The problem with this is that it only leaves 1 back up infielder on our roster.

Tracy seems to play a decent third base when Zimmerman needs a rest. Not ideal maybe, but it'd be exactly the same as last year (having just the one backup).

Steve Berthiaume ‏@BertDbacks

Whoa. #Dbacks RT/@pedrogomezESPN: Phillies & Diamondbacks discussing Justin Upton for Cliff Lee. Money coming to AZ would also be involved.

I don't think Justin Upton is all that.  He's only posted 1 huge year and has never posted an OPS over .900.  He's a great player but Cliff Lee is a flat out stud.  I think the Phils offense gets better but their pitching take a huge drop.

For those wondering if #Nats might still add another big-league starter, Rizzo shot that idea down. Says his rotation is "intact."

What, no Greinke??
