Lead-off walk on 5 pitches and the Nats are retired on 10 pitches.  Inexcusable
4th inning out of 8 that they threw 10 pitches or less.

Maybe this will be good for us in the long run. Losing this one should push JB to make some serious roster moves immediately following the game.
like what. we are 1-8 vs. the Marlins after today. Our coaches have no clue as to how to get any player on the Marlins out. Ayala was awful in the 8th. our bullpen, other than Rauch is not good.

Does anyone know the HR differential between us and the opps at Nationals Park?  It's gotta be more than 2 to 1 against us

I think that's about right. They said it the other day and it was 21-11 at that point, I think.

The fans & media need to stop giving Zimm a free pass for his terrible performance

Get off the kid's back. He's a damn good defensive player in a hitting slump. He's not much worse off than the rest of our guys who, as a team, aren't hitting worth crap! What this team needs is coaching. He's also young and naive and needs to learn who to talk to and when to shut the hell up.

freaking crap.  We get Figuero next time.  He absolutely owned us earlier this year.  This stretch has been a nightmare.  I can't wait until the series with the O's.  At least we get an equally crappy team.

If you aren't going to let Hill pitch into the 8th, what's wrong with Rauch trying for a 2 inning save?   The closers used to go 3 innings regularly back in the day.

I don't think anyone should get off his back.  It's not "just a hitting slump."  Listen to his interviews - he's completely full of crap.  He makes excuses for his terrible lack of plate patience.  He needs to learn how to take pitches, see the ball, and be a more intelligent hitter.

i cant believe that we are dropping to 8 games under again. without the marlins, we would be 1 game under. this is pathetic.

Agreed, I have not a clue.

Let's see, Bob just said that every single one of our pitchers has had trouble with Marlin hitters this series except for Shawn. Some of the blame is on the pitching coach, unquestionably although some of the pitchers we are throwing out there are minor league-caliber.

Unbelievable. We only lost 8 games to the Marlins all year last season.  We were 10-8 against them.

I call 'em like I see them.  He has been horrid this year.  I didn't say anyone else is doing much better (they aren't) , but many seem to act as if it's blasphemy to point out that he has been playing poorly.  Hence, IMO, he gets a free pass where others don't.

They'd kill us at this point. They get clutch hits almost every game. And their bullpen has been awesome this year. We need to start playing better to be able to beat them.

this loss, like our early loss to the Phillies when we had a 7-1 lead, will be devastating. get ready for another 9 game losing streak.

I don't see any way we don't get swept or lose 3 of 4.

1 run leads should not seem insurmountable. Wake up Nationals!

Rauch is awesome. Why in the freak didn't he pitch the 8th?  Manny has lost all grip on reality.

Nice inning for Rauch.  If only Ayala hadn't been so crappy.

Ayala has a 5.91 ERA. If he were on any other team he would be released or sent down. But on the Nats he's an 8th inning set-up man.

I did say he needs to learn when to shut the hell up! He's a kid being expected to carry this team. Even if the FO and his team mates don't expect it the fans and media sure as hell came into the season with that attitude. Put that on anyone then surround him with the farce that we've fielded so far and you expect him to not get frustrated and say something stupid? I'm surprised it took as long as it did.

Again, Manny has a formula from which he doesn't deviate.  He could be replaced by a robot, as far as in game strategies & moves
