MVP?
HURR SABRE STATS TROUT TROUT TROUT WAAAAAAAAR HURR
And a standing ovation on the road.
Yes, because voting for the player who creates more runs by stealing more bases and having better defense at a more valuable position is so irrational!
1933 - Chuck Klein (NL)1934 - Lou Gehrig (AL)1942 - Ted Williams (AL)1947 - Ted Williams (AL)...the above are Triple Crown winners who didn't win MVP that year...if Cabrera doesn't get this year's AL MVP, he will be in distinguished company.
The only reason those on your list were robbed of the MVP is because their team ended up not making the playoffs. Their respective teams were runners up to the teams that won the pennant and the MVP went to a player on those teams. None of the actual winners had even comparable seasons (in my estimation) to the seasons put up by the ones on your list. This year people are suggesting that it should be the other way around and that leading your team to the postseason isn't as important.
Kansas City knows and appreciates baseball.
I thought it was impossible in current baseball. MVP.
The MVP award is for the regular season so I'm not real big on the Made-the-Playoffs angle. I don't think a player should be penalized for playing in a better division. FWIW the Angels had a better record than the Tigers.
