I had someone on ignore for awhile without realizing it. It was one of those accidental ignores when I tried to hit next page, I hit the last poster on the pages ignore button.

Go get 'em, Luis!

Belated props to Livo for last night's performance  :old: Wish the team could have gotten him some runs, but still a great night for him.

Win-Win on MLB Extra Innings this weekend. If they don't give the MASN broadcast, at least I get to listen to Vin Scully  :worship:

At least this lineup is half the abortion last night's lineup. Brilliant idea to give Willingham an off day when your best hitter is also out!

Accquired for Daryl Ward a few years back.  He was a former first round pick for the Atlanta Braves, but had TJ surgery in 2006(?) and that is when they traded him.  He has been rising through our minor league system since and was even in ST this year with the Nats.  He was called up for two reasons:  1)his turn in the AAA rotation synched with the open spot in the MLB rotation 2) he has been pitching the best out of any of the guys in the Syracuse rotation to start the season

Pretty much this, nice work jmu.  The only thing i'll add is that he is a fastball/change-up pitcher who has altered his curve to a slider that has helped him get by.  Probably a back end of the rotation type, but he has done everything the organization has asked out of him.  He's a pitch to contact guy - so again you need that defense behind him (gulp Guzman) - but he's been racking up some K's in AAA ... maybe the curve/slider is becoming a nice out pitch?

Agreed, Hammonds, back end of the rotation/pitch to contact.  I would also add that he has a pretty good sinker.

I hate the sinker/ slider combo.

I heard from a buddy that saw him last year say his sinker/change fools hitters because the deception of the ball is similar and can fool hitters.

I'm not a big fan of sliders in general, but it seems like everybody and his brother has one nowadays.  I am interested to see Atilano, though, because I haven't seen him since he pitched with the P-Nats in 2008.

The one inning I saw of Atilano in spring training left me impressed.

Great effort by Atilano in the first inning.  The sinker is looking really sharp so far.
