I don't believe this was posted before but our playoff chances according to coolstandings.com by way of espn have reached it's peak, 99.9%, the highest they can be without actually having clinched a spot.  It happened a couple of games ago.

@DKnobler
At this point (134 games) last year, cool standings had Red Sox 99 percent to make playoffs, Braves 97.6, Rays 1.3, Cardinals 2.6

JCA lost a fine hat to the unforgiving waters of Four Mile Run last season.

This team is a 100% lock for playoffs. They dont have any beer drinkers or guys who eat chicken in the clubhouse

Did he jump or just throw the hat off a bridge?

Jumped headfirst, but it's only 22 inches deep there, and fortunately the bottom is soft with the decades of accumulated effluent from the wastewater treatment facility just upstream.  The hat plugged in the bottom, however, trapped in the muck for posterity.

I explained to the officer that I was just doing my part in a bucket brigade examining sediment and was trying real hard to collect a full sample.

 Hey !   Be nice.   I don't look like that.   Never touched a weapon before I got drafted and haven't touched one since.    Wife won't let me.   :)    Always tell my BIL, "You wouldn't be huntin' deer if the deer had guns."

Yins would know

It's "yunz".   :)

"...  The problem I have with the "yinz" pronunciation is that I never said "yinz" when I was growing up. I remember saying "yunz," and if I were speaking to more than one of my "Souseside" buddies, I used "yunzes."... "

"The turning point was Day 1, when [the Lerner family] was committed to a program of scouting and player development -- long-term building, try to build internally, get home-grown players," Kasten said. "As we see, the team that we see out there on the field is largely homegrown with some very key important strategic pieces added on top of it. That was always their plan. They didn't waver during the tough times. They stuck to their plan. You are seeing the results now. It appears they are going to enjoy those results in the years to come."

so if Clippard hadn't melted down, we would have taken 3 out of 4 from the hottest team in the majors.

Exhale....

And the Nats will take 2 out of 3 in Philthydelphia and be on the verge of clinching, which they'll do in St. Louis.
