Livan Hernandez ( 1-3, 6.68 )
Hernandez will face the Cardinals for the 14th time in his career. He is 4-5 with a 4.93 ERA against them. In his last start, Hernandez pitched seven innings and gave up four runs on eight hits against the Reds. Hernandez continues to have problems in the first inning. The Reds used seven batters to score three runs in the first inning. For the season, Hernandez has surrendered 12 runs five first innings.

Chris Carpenter ( 3-1, 1.91 )
Even at less than his best, Carpenter can be plenty effective. That was the case in his last start, when he held the Pirates to two runs over six innings despite not having much sink on his sinker. Carpenter hasn't kept the ball on the ground as much this year as last season, but he's throwing lots of strikes and keeping it in the park -- and that's always a recipe for success.

Livo is like the anti-Armas.  Armas has not given up any first-inning runs this season.

Weather report isn't looking too good for the game right now.  Even tomorrow's game is questionable at this time.

We are potentially looking at our 2nd and 3rd postponed games of the season.

Looking at the national radar...they have a smaller (albeit  more violent) cell behind the one currently clearing the area.  It's hard to tell but it looks like they might have enough clear space to get a game in.

treason to MASN?  Ummm I don't have a problem with that at all.  Just to let you know...MASN is owned by Peter Angelos and the Baltimore Orioles.   :?

A Byrd in the Busch is worth 2 in the hand.
Schneider is nesting in the dugout.

CLayton would make a decent lead-off man. HE always seem to hit well, when there's nobody on base. I guess he can't stomach the pressure.

That was a flyout...but Molina hit that thing.  Livan really doesn't have it anymore.  His surgery made him worse or something.  Maybe it's better when he's pitching through pain.

I guess that means our TRUE ace is on the 15 day DL.

1-2-3 inning for Chris Carpenter.  Am I the only one REALLY looking forward to playing the Pirates next week?

Patterson has been our #1 ace in my mind since sometime last season.  Livo's "give up a few then shut it down" style doesn't work for a team with as little offense as we have.

And the Pirates are probably looking forward to playing US ;)
