Both Mike Gonzalez and Brian Fuentes on the DL.  For Fantasy purposes, grab your Johnson, and don't forget Rodney.

Yep... that was an easy bet on my part.

Soon I'll be 2-2 on avatar bets!

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Who did you have that bet with?  And don't forget, I once got you and a bunch of other people when I bet that Redding would pitch a QS against us ;)

Oh that's right, you did.

My bet is against PANatsFan. He said Marquis would have a better year than Joel.

Long way to go, but Marquis is going to need to throw some gems... and Pineiro will have to throw some clunkers.

Did you guys lay out determining numbers for a "better" year?

Didn't he say he would eat his hat or something crazy like that?

Don't remember... but I assume it will be typical stats.... such as ERA, WHIP, etc. etc.

I found this from THT (The Hardball Times)

Quote
The "nasty" field is presumably a crude attempt to calculate how hard to hit a particular pitch was, on a scale of 0-100. My initial cursory look at the data indicates that they are calculating the "nasty" factor mostly based on the location of the pitch, a linear calculation of how close it is to the edges and away from the heart of the zone. For the fastball, MLBAM does not appear to be including anything related to the movement or speed of the pitch into the "nasty" factor. For the curveball, they appear to be rating sweeping curveballs as significantly more nasty than 12-to-6 curveballs. Anyway, I'm not sure that any of this matters as more than a curiosity. As a sabermetric community we have much better approaches available for measuring the nastiness of a pitch.

Yeah, a shoulder high fastball had a nasty factor of 80-something while a fastball on the bottom outside corner was like a 20.  It would seem to me better to paint the corner than an easy to lay off fastball way upstairs.

So, I love during baseball season to turn on a late night west coast game and watch it as I fall asleep. It just so happens that the O's are currently in Oakland to take on the A's.

I'm here to tell you guys, no matter how bad things get for the Nats... it will never be as bad as what I'm seeing with the Orioles tonight.

I've never seen a team pout so much in my life. It's hilarious. Jones strikes out.... he slams his bat and helmet at the plate and just walks away. Hernandez (the pitcher) gets hit for a double, and the camera just lingers on him long enough to watch him hang his head in shame.

Gary Thorne is despondent on commentary. He's crying about the number of players the O's have playing out of position and how the team can't buy a break.

Also... after witnessing this one... it'll be hard for me to complain about the Nats defense with a straight face. They are terrible in the field. They miss cutoff men, drop throws and generally play with a lack of fundamentals which is hilarious because Thorne keeps harping on commentary about how Trembly has been drumming fundamentals into their head.

Basically, no matter how bad the Nats get in the future... I'll be able to look back at tonight and remember... that for all eternity, the Nats will be the better organization.

Not only are the O's off to a 1-9 start this year, but I heard on the radio this morning that starting April 23 they play 12 straight games against the Red Sox and Yankees. That's a brutal stretch.
