Have any of you wondered what Nats games will be like if they actually start winning and all these casual fans show up?  Will it be worth it?  :-)

Yes, it certainly would be.  I'd like nothing better than to be packed into Nats Park night after night. The buzz, the palpable excitement, it would be great.  Just think back to those heady summer days of June - July 2005.  I couldn't wait to get to the ballpark and join in the good feeling.  Let's pray we get back to that excitement again, and soon.

If you're into NY Baseball History; How come you neglected to mention Babe Ruth's Birthday was the other day?!   Wink  There was supposed to be a Birthday Bash at the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore but was cancelled (Obviously).

Just razzing you!  Welcome!  Are you Yankee fan or Met?

I totally went out to lunch on Ruth's birthday. There is a lot of stuff I want to write about, but only so much time to fit it in around everything else I'm doing.
If I had to choose a NY team, I'd say the Mets.

That's ok.  I saw an article on MLB.com or someplace.  I remembered it was in February.  I forgot when.

As for the Mets, I'd rather you be a Met fan than a Yankee fan.  HOWEVER, I'd rather you be a NATS fan than ANY OTHER TEAM!   Cheesy

Hi everyone, not sure if I've done this yet, but I wanted to get back into the swing of things with baseball starting up soon.  I'm 26, and got into the Nationals with my younger brother who's been a fan since Vladdy's days with the Expos.

Hello All,
I am happy to have found a new forum. I am sort of new to baseball. Just started to pay attention to it when Dc got a team. At first I couldn't watch them because of Comcast. Each year as I learn more, and my other DC teams struggle I look forward to baseball more and more. I love baseball now. The feel of it, the sound of it, and the pain of it. Hopefully, there won't be nearly as much pain this year. I usually get to watch baseball with my brother on Sundays. I really hope this year is good.

Yes  you do, I try to use the same name. I read a lot of sites a lot but don't comment to much. By that I check for Nationals news all the time with twitter. And I check Federalbaseball.com and Nationals pride.com at least ten times a day. I thought I was a big fan of the wizards and redskins, until I caught Nats fever. Nothing is like baseball.
and nothing is like being a fan of a team from the build to the high times. I like what we have here.

I am a new member of this forum from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  My wife and I are heading to the DC area, specifically Richmond VA, to visit an old friend.  We will be attending the Flames-Capitals game on March 28(sorry, but I will be sporting the Flaming C) and I also picked up two tickets in section 206 for opening day.

I grew up as a Montreal Expos fan, and I will be wearing an Expos cap at the game.  Hope this is acceptable in DC!  Smiley

Love the old Expos logo.  Bill Lee says high.  We should have retained the rights to Youppi! instead of surrendering him to Les Habs.

206 has decent seats, and if it is wet and windy, you can duck into the club.  I'd say cold, but I figure you'll be out there in short sleaves.  Welcome!

Howie, Expos fans are welcome at Nats Park. Unfortunately, I got a less than warm welcome from Expos fans at an early Nats @ Blue Jays game, but I understand where they were coming from.

The Blue Jays fans exhibited the legendary Canadian hospitality, of course. Great crowd there.

I, for one, do not blame the people of Washington for "stealing" the Expos.  They didn't build the stadium that they needed in Montreal.  It simply wasn't working their for a number of reasons.

What kind of reception can I expect from Caps fans at the Verizon Center with my Calgary Flames paraphernalia?

You'll be viewed a bit as a novelty, probably.   <laughing>

You might hear a little chirping, but Caps fans aren't nearly so thuggish as say Flyers fans.

to be honest, and I am absolutely hoping that you don't take this as an insult...we didn't even really want the Expos. it just happened that way.

we would have been happy with an expansion team. it wasn't like "ha ha we got your team."

there were a lot of Expos fans back in late 04 and 05 who were furious not just at Selig and Loria and such, but at the new Nats fans as well, and they didn't really seem to understand this.

all water under the bridge now though, anyway.

I've been following the Nats since they moved the trailers into the RFK parking lot in 04, and I've never seen an Expos fan at a Nats game treated with anything but the utmost respect.  I'd like to think that the few remaining Expos fans who didn't walk away from baseball when their team moved, and stuck with the Nats are still considered family, in a baseball fan sort of way.

Def. this. There's a French Canadian fellow who posts on the board and comes down with his son from time to time, and we have some old die hards who post here (daveb32). Others followed the Expos to DC, and were fans the whole time.

Not to mention the Vermont Lake Monster fans, also Expos in their original affinity.
