Welcome Andrew.  Living in Alexandria (where I lived for 19 years) you're only about 20 minutes from RFK, and only about 40 minutes from College Park

The good news is, you won't have to trade in your red State stuff, it will work in both venues.

Hello again guys....

I joined here late last year, but just before Xmas my PC became unusable and essentially junk, and I only just got back on-line about 2 weeks ago with a new system. So hopefully now I can contribute a little on here and have some fun!

So here's my slightly amended and updated original intro, which I first posted on the (now locked)  'Announcements and Stickies' board....

I'm pretty thrilled to have found you - at last a great independent Nats fan forum. I've been looking around and decided to join. I'd love a friendly forum to belong to, and maybe to make some great Nats fan friends.

I'll just briefly tell you my story. I'm 40'ish and live in England. I have two sisters who both live in Canada, and where I visit frequently for holidays with my wife and family. My support for the Nats stems from the fact that one of my sisters has lived most of her life in Ayers Cliff, a small town in southern Quebec, so all my live baseball for around 25 years between about 1979 and 2004 was games at the Big 'O' in Montreal, about 90 minutes away, and where I must have seen around 100 Expos games over those 25 years when there on holiday.

So obviously when the Expos left Montreal I immediately started to root for the Nationals, though I've never been to DC in my life, but I definately want to do that in the next couple of years. I watch as many Nats games as I can from my home in the UK, 'live' on MLB.TV - even though many of the games don't begin until around midnight with the 5 hour time difference between EST and GMT. So I feel I'm at least supporting them in my own way, though from some distance!

This looks a great forum - I've been reading some threads and there seems to be intelligent discussion and friendly mature debate, unlike many fan boards I've seen which are pretty ugly and poor quality.

So hi anyway, I hope to post quite often and see you all around.

Terry

PS....Since the Expos moved to DC I've also become interested in learning/researching whatever I can on the old Washington Senators, and especially the legendary Walter Johnson (my avatar)... if anyone can help with any links etc?

Hello Terry,  welcome to the forum.  One of the more senior forum members (Ken, Jmad for two)can probably do a better job referring you to Senators / Nats history sites, but here are a couple of links to check out.  There are probably some great blogs out there too.

http://www.baseballindc.com/
MLB's official site

http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/al/wastex/senators61.html
Somebody's memorial to the team I grew up with, the 2nd Senators franchise.

http://www.cjis.com/historywbc.htm
Quite incomplete, but some interesting tidbits.

Note that the terms "Nats" and "Senators" were used interchangebly in the final decades of their history up until 1971.  Thus while many of us would have preferred the Senators name be reincarnated, "Nats" fits like a comfortable old shoe.

Look forward to chatting with you more frequently.

Hey all:

My name's Allen.
I love baseball.  I can't wait for regular season to start.
To pass the time I've recently discovered an amazing new baseball game: MLB 06 The Show.

I just wrote a threat about why I like it so much.
This is the address if you want to check it out,

Let me know if you've played it.

Welcome aboard... Living close to the Sens home field, will you be going to a lot of their games this year? If so, feel free to give us the lowdown on any of the players.

My name is Drew, some of you already know me from the Nationals MLB board.

My hometown is Springfield, VA but moved to Wilmington, NC to become a writer and to take in the beauty that is NC.  Grew up watching the O's but it never felt right, I always asked Santa for a baseball team in DC.  You can imagine my orgasmic excitement last year, many of you shared the same.

Well, see you on the boards and hopefully at some games at RFK in 06'!

Thanks.  Nothing wrong with it at all.  Although lately I've been looking for a forum a little more troll free.  Hopefully, this place will suit me fine.

Glad to see you over here, good posters are always welcome and an asset to any forum. And like Tom says, there ain't nothin' wrong with being in multiple dimensions. It helps confuse the opposition.

Whats up guys. I've been a member since last year but never really posted. (been a nats fan since opening day, 2005 though Smiley)

I've posted alot in the gameday posts over the last 2 games. So you probably saw me randomly start posting.

Anyway, I'm Kyle and I live in Fairfax.

One of these days im going to get a signature or something...

I don't think we've welcomed every new member, but usually someone will get the welcome mat swept off and send out a welcome aboard greeting.

Good to have you here, and you're even allowed to ask the DUH type questions, and give the same DUH type replies. We have fun here, and as for your "one of these days" signature you,re gonna make, try and keep it a reasonable size. When they get too big, they distract form the message.

BTW, I'm ken, and on that "other board" I'm known as Shoeless Joe Jackson

I find this board has certain advantages.  For one, you can post to a gameday thread easier and quicker, the software is just more user friendly for this purpose IMHO.  Also, as you pointed out, it is a troll-free zone.  Sometimes you'd just like to be able to speak candidly to other Nats fans without having some troll ridiculing you.

The Chief, Ken and J-Mad do a great job of presenting links and other resources, so I come here first when I want to find something Nats related outside of the MLB board.

And now it looks like we can post pictures, so life is good!
