Ladson:The #Nats have won their arbitration case against LHP Sean Burnett, who will make $775,000 in 2010.

Do we need another BS thread about the same thing? Clearly the team made fair offers, and these guys should have settled. Unless you are Burnett's wife, why should you care? I'm going rebrand LAC as cheapers because it's groundless, dogmatic, and has a hint of something not-quite-right about it on the Nationals Journal, in honor of the Obama birthers.

Nobody said anything about the Lerners, and yes I feel this is worth a thread, at least for now. It's breaking news. Maybe I'll merge all the arby threads later on.

Read the Nats Journal. Even the LAC invaders after Hudson signed with the Twins aren't included with that rant.

That's ridiculous. The Nats won their cases, so how can this all be on the Lerners for being cheap? Idiots.

I'd consider myself to be straddeling the LAC line, but some of the extreme stuff is absurd. Would giving Flores a joe mauer $ 150 extension make them happy?

How in the world does this thread have anything to do with LAC?
I've never once even posted on that subject.
I was just reporting the news I saw.

Talking arbitration on a baseball forum is like hearing T.P.Y.A.F scream out someone else's name during sex. *Edited for clarity.

Not unreasonable for a 1st year arb eligible contract for a non-elite middle reliever. In 2007, Neil Cotts got $825K. In 2008, Javier Lopez got $840K, Matt Thornton $875K. Cotts is a good comarabel through age 26 per BR. There has not been that much inflation. Had he gone in at $850K, he wins.

I'm sure he's single. He can't possibly afford to support a family on $775,000 a year!
