at least it seems like he's getting the best treatment possible, it's sad to see a young guy in that kind of a situation

The Padres beat the Royals 16-14 today, and neither team hit a HR.

Rodney, how'd you not knock him flat on his butt when he was trapping it of his helmet! And where the heck was Asante?

Aren't you on my side here? And Asante should have had the pick earlier on that drive, but he dropped it. And the refs should have called the sack on Manning because we rapped him up. But I've moved on now...

Traded for Jenks in my fantasy league. But I have Thornton cheap so would not mind the change. Worried about Putz, though. Could mess things up and force me to spend auction $$.

This is Roger Dean Stadium. While the Fish scored 6 in the 1st off Carpenter, Pujols answered with a massive blast. See the buildings beyond the LF wall? The ball completely cleared them, and ended up on the field behind those buildings.

We'll have to wait for Frank Howard to come on-line for a chat and ask him.

Yeah, I could have it described for me, but I want to know what it feels like for myself, ya know, to really get a hold of one and blast it 600 ft. When I really get all of a pitch, mine go something like 220. 250 if the wind is at my back.

I thought you played slow pitch softball.

yeah, but I'm a slap hitter there too. spray the gaps and shoot screamers down the lines. Nothing ever goes deep. If it goes in the air, it's rarely a good thing.

Hitting gaps is the key to softball. The guys that you see on TV that can hit a softball 400' are using bats that are illegal in ASA play.

They do?
Jenks had a 38.00 ERA this spring last time I checked and is facing some competition from JJ Putz who has pitched well so far. Fuentes has been so-so and is coming off a season in which he had a 1.40 WHIP and 3.90 ERA while striking out less than a batter an inning. There's a reason the Angels added Fernando Rodney.

I got Putz, Madson and Rauch pretty late and just added Franklin Morales as Street will miss the start of the season. The only front-line closers I took were Aardsma (9th rd) who I loved last year, and Francisco Cordero (11th rd). I'm going to kick myself for taking closers that high, but they seemed look good values after the top-tier guys were gone.
