oops, too late ha.

these chats are much better than the generic washington post/mlb.com ones.
Because we know they get to see them. I have my doubts about which questions get to the players in those chats

We had over 25 members, plus 25+ guests at times on the thread, a very healthy turnout.  Nice job folks, hope everyone had fun with it.

Things like this make me glad I'm a Nats fan.

Now once the job is set, I'm going to see about some road trips to Atlanta and Cincy.

He has amazing composure and a real love of the game. He also doesn't seem to have much if any fear, which is a complete 180 from how Hanrahan handled the mound. I also find it interesting that he looks up to Jonathan Papelbon. He is the real deal, and I am so stoked that Rizzo took him 10th overall.. he's more than worth it IMO.

Wow, arrived late and had a chance to skim through this, not only was it great to read Drew's comments but the WNFF folks are really ... impressive, makes me proud to be a Nats fan

(and if he wants a tour of the Pentagon, PM me, I might be able to help sponsor him for a tour.)

The inspiration and ground work was laid by Spinman, and Bally's good nature and willingness to go where no player had gone before.  Drew could see how Collin was treated here, and it was not hard at all to enlist his participation.  Quite honestly, you could see that he was enthused and really chomping at the bit to get the season rolling.

Can we get perhaps a 3rd player to participate?  We'll see.  If anyone has any contacts, PM me.  We are going to explore a few things, perhaps we can make it happen.  I think once spring training starts, the window will be closed, but maybe we can get one or two more before then.

Was wondering how he could get that set up. <applause>

A few years ago, some trade rag rated MarlinsBaseball.com the best independent sport board.  WNFF is far better.

how do u know storen?

His father Mark Patrick was the host of "Baseball this Morning" on XM 175 for most of its existence since inception, until the Sirius merger when they started cutting back a lot.  I had exchanged emails with Mark a couple of times back a few years ago, and when Drew was drafted by the Nats, I reached out again to Mark.

After Collin's chat, it dawned on me that in many ways both guys are similar - easy going and outwardly friendly, and I thought it would be a good match, so I asked Mark what he thought, and he put me in touch with Drew.

Damn, had to miss this. Sad  But props to Drew for answering my earlier posted question. Tom, you are the man. Actually, you and Spinman!! I'm really looking forward to seeing him play this year.

As long as this thread is not closed, let me get in a "thank you" to Drew and to TomTerp, and of course Spinman and Bally for setting the precedent.

The Papelbon thing is interesting in that Papelbon was a college closer who some had some doubts about until he started pitching in the minors.  Of course, he has had some great performances too.  I hope the two get a chance to talk either at Fort Meyers (Nats visit Sox near the end of Spring) or up here on 4/3.  Papelbon puts on the hick routine, but his parents I think are professors and some of the hick thing is more or less a media persona.

I wanted to personally thank all of the posters for keeping your questions above board and well thought out. Well, except for Houston-Nat! <hanging self> LOL! Tomterp and I really appreciate that and we know the players do too. We are working on another player and we will try and get him to come on before Spring training. Thanks again, Spinman! Cool
