I just threw up in my mouth when I read how cheap Bedard would be for the Ms.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/02/mariners-considering-resigning-bedard.html

Quote
THURSDAY, 7:36am: Street's newest blog post implies that an agreement with Bedard has been reached, though the writer does not say that specifically.  The quote:  "I have now heard that the deal is a one-year $1.5 million base salary contract that includes a shipload of incentives."

Additionally, Kirby Arnold of the Everett Herald spoke to a source who believes a May comeback is possible for Bedard.  Bedard will be coming to Arizona soon to continue his throwing program.

A discount, yes, but I'm more annoyed about not going $3m for this guy than I am about Hudson.

Wow.

Felix
Lee
Bedard

that's got the potential to be a really good rotation.  Snell could be that #4.  Not sure who would be their #5, but they've got to be the front runners in the AL West.  I'll likely watch a lot of their games after the Nats games wrap up.

PECOTA has them coming in last in the NL West.

It seems clear they've made a lot of favorable moves in the offseason, not sure where that pessimism is coming from, but just throwing that out there.

They are this years version of the 2008 Tigers.

Maybe Ryan Rowland-Smith. RRS is pretty promising.  Even the little Morrow for League deal looks good for them.

Which iteration?  they've been doing new Pecota runs almost daily.  The Nats have dropped from 82 to 76 wins in a week, I think.

Softer division, more depth, younger, better rotation and bullpen.

My blue cap with the green bill might be the only non-Boston, non-Washington pro cap I own.

Most recent.  They have it clearly labeled "beta", and are still fixing things.  For example, I note they still have Willy Harris with 97 PA's as a DH.   <laughing>

But I checked back an hour or so ago.

I just learned from a baseball source that 2B Orlando Hudson will not play for the #Nats. He most likely will play for the Twins.

All I was really doing out was pointing out the obvious - it's not over til it's over.  And now it's over.

The MLB Network interview of Hudson pissed me off. Hope he freezes his ass off playing outside in MN in April.

Until they build a smart cold weather team, they may really struggle at the beginning and end of the season.

JZ would be a smart player for them to target.

I mean it - Kennedy will have a better year. Hudson fell on his wrist on 9/23 and was in total agony.

Does anyone know if the Nats attended the Noah Lowry workouts?  I am wondering if we couldn't put a flyer out on him as well.  I'm not sure he'll agree to a minor league deal, but the Nats are the perfect team for him to prove himself (health wise) on a one year deal.

Why worry about Estes? Do you really think he'll play a major part for the Nats this year?
