All right folks, I'm on my my to Viera, Cocoa Beach actually, for the Turkey Day weekend.

Consider me an advanced party for Spring Training...what should I be looking for and reporting back on?

Have they repainted Space Coast Stadium?

Where's Dmitri's favorite ABC store?

Does that certain waitress still work at that certain club?

Surf conditions??

I mean, you guys are much better with baseball observations than me, but I thought I might be useful....

Galah - you know better than that. They have liquor at Sam's Club in Florida. No need for ABC.

No crap? I need to move out of Virginia. I'm tired of always having to head over to the ABC store to pick up my gin.

You can get beer and wine everywhere, licker requires a separate store, as I recall...and I seem to recall seeing separate, state run stores along the A1A ....ah well, I'll post something tonight, if I'm semi-sober.

The liquor requires a separate license, but the state is not allowed to have its own stores in Florida.  What you saw is probably ABC, one of the chains down here, is but it's a privately-owned for profit corporation.  A lot of out of state visitors belief it is a state-run Alcohol Beverage Control store.  You can by liquor at most drugstores (CVS, Walgreens) and a lot of gas stations in Florida, as well a Sams Club, Costco, BJ's, etc.

If you go to above the link for ABC, you can print out your own coupons (currently various wines and boxes of cigars).

It could be worse.  In PA you have to go to special stores just to buy beer.  Surprised the hell out of me the first time I went up there and stopped at a gas station looking for a six pack.

6 pack stores can sell you up to 128 oz of beer. They are almost always attached to a restaurant (similar to how all bars in VA serve food since they are supposedly restaurants). Distributors sell cases and above, including kegs. They have a lot of political clout and have successfully stunted any reform.

Now that a billion dollar company like Sheetz, as well as Wegman's, have taken up the fight, things may change. Wegman's can finally sell beer since they have restaurants, and they have an amazing selection of PA microbrews and craft beers, notably Troegs and Penn Brewery.

I have lunch at Flannigans a few times a month, and dinner a couple times more.  Always a good time.

For your info on Dmitri Young's ST habits:

I also found out where he was staying while down there. He isn't that hard to find.

I'm still working on freeing up my schedule and getting the necessary funds to attend ST 2010.

Thanks for the refresher course.

I know exactly where the liquor store is, but I can't remember what their stores are called. It's not ABC like we have already determined.

It's a good meal, definitely not 5 star, but the entire menu is pretty good.  I usually get either wings, ribs, or cheesesteak.  The fish is very good.  Wednesdays are the best, free pitcher of beer with each order of wings, which we do as an appetizer.  If you like the signs, you'll be happy to know that the non-alcoholic drinks come in a free 32oz souvenir cup, and you can take a pic of Big Daddy home with you.

When I visited Columbus, Ohio a few weeks ago I was blown away by the fact you can buy Captain Morgan rum at Target.

Surf looked good this morning at high tide, wet suits recommended already though, waters a bit chilly.

ABC is not state run, but they do have a decent wine selection....The Green Turtle is better (closest thing you can find to a Whole Foods around here, if you like that kinda food.
Probably won't make it to the ball park until Friday or Saturday

Sorry, won't make it far enough south to hit Flannigans this trip

Hoping the weather clears for a local shuttle landing tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving Nats fans!
