Now we're essentially stuck using either Villone or Tavarez, especially if the game goes into extra innings.  Angry

freak them. If they can't get people out from either side of the plate they shouldn't be on an MLB roster. I've known some "purist" who hate the DH yet have no issue with lefty specialists.  Undecided

It is a counter to the guys who can really only hit righties and can't hit a lefty curve ball. That's why good lefty specialists are valuable. They just have to be used properly. Manny uses them in the opposite way. Some guys, like Cody Ross, suck against righties and pummel lefties. Yet Manny will put in a lefty like Burnett to face him. Result: Dinger.

I know what you were saying but I was just venting my frustration about this stupid freaking idea of carrying guys on your roster who are only useful getting lefties out (and a lot of them struggle doing that).

Beimel isn't a lefty specialist, though. Never has been.

I'd say a combination of a bum and being misused. His ERA is respectable but it doesn't tell nearly the whole story. Beimel has contribued to well over 5 losses and we are barely over the half way point.

FIRE PAT LISTACH ON THE SPOT!!

NO WAY THEY SHOULD HAVE SENT HARRIS THERE. NO freakING WAY.

The CFer was playing in and had the ball when Harris was barely past the bag.

It's not bad luck, Bob. it's stupidity. I know they want to be aggressive but that is just dumb to send him there.

Ball was hit hard to the CFer who was playing in shallow. Harris is fast but it wouldn't have mattered.
