Final Home Game
« on: September 24, 2008, 12:20:57 am »
I'll be at the final home game Thursday night. My ticket is in Sec. 128, Row DD, Seat 11. If I don't see you elsewhere, stop on by and say hi. I hope, though, to run into some WNNF members at the Red Loft beforehand. Can't believe the season for us will be over then. Time to cry in our beer(s).

We will be at the Caps game on Thursday...I generally never miss Nats' home closing day, but for some reason I just don't care all that much this year.  Maybe that's what happens at White Flint Field.

I watched opening day from a ski town pub in Colorado, so it's probably fitting if I follow closing day from a hockey arena.  Might make it to Philly Sunday, but the tickets on Craig's List are $$$.

We'll be there tonight and tomorrow night. I'm a little worried about the weather for tomorrow's game, though.  They're predicting rain and wind from late morning onward. :icon_frown:

Hammondsnats or anyone else coming tonight, I'm meeting Aspenbubba, Mathguy and 2IPA's in the Red Loft tonight. I'll set up in the front right corner of the platform looking out at the field, right by the entrance staircase.  Feel free to find us.

I'm starting the evening at the Caps' pre-season opener - will stay for one period then Metro on down to the ballpark for the rest of the Nats finale.

haha he has a church shirt i have church jersey.  he was one of my favorite players too, and it's shame we traded him and not kearns.  a church / milledge / dukes outfield > kearns / milledge / dukes

So question... It's clear there's no way there'll be a game tomorrow night. They're saying nor-easter, with 60mph winds and torrents of rain. What happens then? The game just gets canceled and we play 161? That would totally suck since we might end up losing the #1 draft pick because we play one less game than the Mariners and Padres...

That's a good question. No way they'll play tomorrow night.

I think they would just play 161 games and not play that game since it doesn't mean anything in relation to the playoffs.

Updating since (as noted by prior posters) it's probably going to rain tonight (Yahoo! Weather currently says 90% chance)...if it's raining when I get to the Phone Booth tonight I'll probably full-time it with the Caps, although I'll bring my baseball ticket just in case, and may even Metro on down to check things out when the hockey lets out. Thing is though, the last thing I need at an evening when I have to get up early and go to work the following morning is a rain delay.

And I'll get stuck with the tickets I bought from some season ticket holder off stubhub, right? Sh!t.

TT-  we came up to the Red Loft from the 5th-8th innings or so.  It was pretty packed, but good times indeed.  Sorry we didn't run into you.

Depressing game from the start.  Saw a few good plays and a few rallies that got started, but it's a shame it's come to this.  Seven of the starters in our line-up saw significant time in the minors this past season ... what a joke.

We were there pre-game (Mathguy, 2IPA's, Aspenbubba and myself), from 6 till about 6:50.  Mathguy found every person with a Milledge or Church jersey and interrogated each and every one of them, alas none confessed to being the elusive hammondnats.  It also had the beneficial effect of people moving away from us, so we had plenty of elbow room.
